Ready, Set, Blog

I have been meaning to do this for sometime -- blog, that is. I used to be one of those  people who didn't understand why others blogged.  Where did they find the time to write down in real time the blow by blow of their days, tick off their reactions to every tidbit of news, every blip on the blogdar?   Why did they presume that anyone cared?

But then I found myself reading more and more blogs.  I started seeing the line between blogs and "legit news" become irrevocably blurred.   And then I found myself responding to blogs, getting caught in the back and forth of threads I had once observed from a distance.

I think what happened is that I found myself enjoying bumping thoughts with total strangers, absorbing new perspectives from people that happened to be on the same page as me, and occasionally coming across my favorite thing -- a neologism.

My all-consuming day job nudged me further toward the brink. I was building up quite a reservoir of amazing experiences that I had been wanting to share -- and my co-workers insisted:   Blog, Drew!  Blog!

So here I am, after a significant delay, leaning over the blog precipice with my little paper wings strapped on.  It's another case of deja Drew.  Thelma and Louise, here I come.
